About FPSC

Our Mission

FPSC builds collective action among business, labour and sector stakeholders and provides national leadership in the development of strategic responses and interventions which address current and emerging human resource and labour market issues in the forest products sector.

Our strategic focus

The Canadian forest products industry faces a number of human resource challenges. These include the need to accurately forecast labour demand and supply; increase the mobility of workers; adopt new technologies; and anticipate the challenges with an aging workforce. To address these challenges and other issues faced by the forest products industry, FPSC has identified seven strategic priorities:

  • Labour market intelligence
  • Transitioning workers
  • Essential skills and improved workplace productivity
  • Accessing under-represented workers (Aboriginal peoples, women, and foreign workers)
  • Improving industry image and perceptions
  • Recruiting and retaining employees
  • Partnerships, training and development
  • At the heart of FPSC's mandate is the necessity to address these human resource issues through partnerships and collaborative efforts.

What is the Sector Council Program?
